Literature, characters and Chinese names
Quotation, lexical meaning and modern name
Ancient literature is not a name-luck table. Read the scene before deciding what a name should express. Xiu Yuan evokes seeking; Huai Jin/Wo Yu expresses integrity amid lack of recognition; Xun Mei connects a gift with its giver.

Identify the lexical layer
Shuowen’s Rui entry refers to a jade token, distinct from the modern auspicious sense. Jade words can serve as integrity metaphors without judging the actual bearer. Modern Mandarin is also distinct from ancient pronunciation.
A combination is not a continuous quotation
Jing Shu combines words from “Jing nü qi shu”; Lan Zhi combines fragrant-plant imagery. Candidate pages mark combinations and preserve the actual quotation. Check surname pronunciation, dialect sound and local registration requirements.
